Getting Back Into Running
by Tom Shafer
Martha and I have been working towards running again consistently as the wedding approaches (1 month!), and it appears that we have found the perfect way to do so. During my three trips to the Apple Store to have a bad fan replaced, I played a bit with the Nike+iPod packages which have been around for a while. At $35 per, they’re not super expensive & we decided to give them a go. As it turns out, it’s a very well-executed idea that really has potential to change our work-out mentality. Screen grabs are below — you know we had to try it out!

Now, a 9:23 mile is fine. But a 9:23 km? Ahem…
Do you get this on your ipod? Can I get it somehow?
@Kir: Yep — that’s part of what makes it so neat. It works with the new iPod Touches or any iPod Nano (Martha had 2 Nanos, so we were good to go). I added a photo of it running on the iPod to the post; it keeps track of everything as you go.
You choose your music through the Nike+iPod menu so that if you’d like to know your stats while you run (how far, how long, etc.), you press the center button and it fades in a voice over the music. Pretty neat, really!
